The Seattle Sports Commission Announces Two New Hires

Mara Mote steps in as Sports Marketing Manager and Elisa Levinson fills Business Development Manager position

SEATTLE – The Seattle Sports Commission (SSC) welcomes two new employees to its organization as it expands efforts to pursue and win bids on behalf of the greater Puget Sound region from some of the world’s highest-profile sporting events. Mara Mote and Elisa Levinson joined the organization in June, filling two vacancies within the team. Mote was hired as the Sports Marketing Manager and Levinson was hired as the Business Development Manager. The pair join Executive Director Ralph Morton and Director of Events and Sports Development Amanda Streams.

“Mara and Elisa both bring unique perspectives to the organization, and I look forward to witnessing how their individual passions for our region and sports culture will expand the SSC’s local and global impact,” SSC Executive Director Ralph Morton said.

rior to joining the SSC, Mote was the Manager of Production and Development for EndemolShine North America, based in Los Angeles. Mara handled logistical elements for the company’s unscripted network and cable shows, such as MasterChef (FOX), Fear Factor (MTV), Hunted (CBS), and SuperHuman (FOX), as well as assisting with the internal development of new series like Page Six TV, Best.Cover.Ever., and Staten Island Hustle.

Mote’s first Seattle experience occurred while working on the series Treehouse Masters, about Washington-based treehouse builders Nelson Treehouse & Supply. Years later, she visited the city again and realized that Seattle was meant to be her next home.

“Living in Los Angeles, I always commented on missing the rain,” Mote said. “What I didn’t realize was that I was missing a connection to nature. Seattle is an urban oasis – truly a global city in the midst of some of the most incredible landscape in the world, and I I immediately felt at home in my new city.”

Prior to transitioning to television, Mote worked in the PR department and wrote copy for CBS Radio’s six Los Angeles stations. Throughout her career, she has worked on and promoted numerous live events, which is an underlying passion of hers.

“When I was first starting my career, my dream was to one day direct a televised World Cup match – I grew up loving sports and the live events atmosphere,” she said. “It makes so much sense that the skillset I built from the television and radio industry can now be utilized to promote Seattle’s already strong sports culture, and I am so excited to share the SSC’s vision and voice with the world.”

Levinson joins the SSC after opening the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington as a Sales Manager. She previously was a Senior Sales Manager at Hyatt House Seattle Downtown and began her sales career in Seattle with Marriott.

Levinson has been a fan of Seattle since she first came to the city as part of the University of Colorado Mock Trial team.

“I attended the Emerald City Open at University of Washington,” Levinson said. “After touring the city and enjoying a rainy Mariners game, I knew I was not done with Seattle.”

After graduating from university, she moved to Aspen and worked for the Limelight Hotel, but even hitting the slopes every day couldn’t keep her from Seattle. Today, she proudly calls Seattle home and enjoys all the city has to offer, including her season tickets to the Sounders FC.

“I am excited to begin my career with the SSC, merging my expertise in client relationships with a personal passion for sports,” she added.
