Warm up those lungs, and get ready to cheer. Seattle’s sport teams can turn anyone into a diehard fan.

In the SoDo neighborhood (page 73), baseball’s Mariners (* swing for the fences at Safeco Field (*1250 First Ave S;, where a retractable roof guarantees perfect conditions on game day, April through September. Load up on local flavors—from craft brews to sushi rolls to fish tacos—inside the ballpark. Or see pitchers throwing heat in The ’Pen, a standing-room area in center field located next to the bullpens.

Watch stars like Clint Dempsey and Russell Wilson tear up the turf in the open-air stadium, known for amplifying the cheers of Sounders Supporters and 12th Man fans.
